Rainwater Harvesting is a common method to store rainwater at the times of heavy rains by collecting it in a tank or may be used to recharge ground water level. The water falling at the rooftops is channeled to the tanks by a pipe or the pipe is connected to a ground water recharging tank .It thus helps to solve problem of water. scarcity. Generally the water from first rainfall is not collected as it contains dirt from the roof . The afterwards showers are collected.

With rooftop harvesting, most any surface — tiles, metal sheets, plastics, but not grass or palm leaf — can be used to intercept the flow of rainwater and provide a household with high-quality drinking water and year-round storage. Other uses include water for gardens, livestock, and irrigation, etc.
