What's In
It may appear that set theory is a branch of mathematics that seems
to have little implication to the real world. But its immense importance is proven.
Concepts of sets and its operations enable manipulation of complicated
mathematical concepts. In 1939, Nicolas Bourbaki expanded this when he said,
"Nowadays it is the whole known to be possible, logically speaking, to derive
practically the whole known mathematics from a single source, the Theory of Sets”,
The development of set theory in the second half of the 19th century has been
one of the most important developments in the history of mathematics.
