Rakesh is twice as old as vivek.In 12 years time,their combined ages will be six times that of vivek's present age. What are their present ages?

cricketica Let the age of Rakesh be 2X and the age of Vivek as X.
After 12 years i.e. 2X + 12 and X + 12 their combined ages will be 6 times present age of vivek.Then,
2X+12+X+12=6X
3X+24=6X
24=6X-3X
3X=24
X=24/3=8
Then their present ages will be
Vivek=8 years
Rakesh=2(8)=16 years.
