3.It was a lesson I learned almost 70 years ago. In elementary school, in those days, all Christian and U.S. Holidays were celebrated. On Halloween, we were to wear our costumes to school, march around the school and then enjoy punch and cookies in our homerooms. I did not have a costume and fumed and brooded about it, feeling good and sorry for myself. When I got to school, I noticed that one other girl didn't have a costume either. She was one of 12 children, from a very poor family.
