TRUE OR FALSE:
Write TRUE if the statement is correct and FALSE if it is
incorrect.
1. EARTHQUAKE WAVES are energy waves travelling aroud
the earth which causes earthquakes. Earthquake waves are
called seismic waves.
2. The two types of waves are surface waves and body waves.
3. P-waves tranverse through solids and liquids along its
direction of travel. P-waves are faster than s-wave.
4. S -wave traverse along the right angle direction of its
travel. P-wave travel through solids only.
5. CRUST is the outer layerof the earth. Both p-wave and swave pass through this layer.
6. MANTLE is consists of dense silicate materials.
7. Both p-wave and s-wave travel through it, showing that it
is solid.
8. Outer core is liquid since s-waves do not treverse through
it.
9. The core refracts p-waves creating a shadow zone.
10. Shadow zone is an are in the earth’s surface where
seismic activity cannot be detected after the p-waves have
passed through. It is the evidence that the outer core is in
liquid state.
