Everyday in Kanpur, Ankit Agarwal’s team scours through the city’s temples gathering flowers offered to the gods. These are flowers that would otherwise be dumped into the Ganga river that flows through the industrial city, known for its leather manufacturing. Agarwal’s team saves the river from about 800 kg of flowers every day.
“We collect waste flowers from 19 temples and two mosques in Kanpur and turn them into vermicompost and incense sticks,” said Agarwal, cofounder of HelpUsGreen. “We sell our products online to 11,000 customers through WeCommerce sites as well as export to Germany and Switzerland.”
