Monarchy was first introduced to the Philippines from the Malay empire. Monarchy was adopted and used as a type of government by the kingdom of Tondo ( I only used the kingdom of Tondo as an example because the kingdom of Tondo was the largest and the most powerful). Until, the spañards came to the Philippines and Monarchy was still used but, the laws and power of the Spanish empire were mostly applied to the kingdom of Spain and sent a governor general (gobernador heneral) instead to represent the king of Spain. there were 3 main officials of the local government first was the lowest the cabeza de barangay then the gobernadorcillo and the alcalde mayor the in the central government was the real audencia de manila and the arch bishop of Manila. That's when the Spanish empire slowly apply the democratic type of government here in the Philippines. lastly was the official type of government here in the Philippines, the Democratic government. The democratic government was introduced by the Americans where the highest official is the president then the vice-president, Senate president, house speaker, chief justice, the departments, the members of the Senate, members of the house representative, associate justices of the supreme court, congressman, governor, mayor and lastly the barangay chairman
