Find the value of x when the AM of x+2 and 4x+5 = 3x+2.
AM of x+2 and 4x+5 is (x+2+4x+5)/2, or
(5x+7)/2 = 3x+2, or
5x+7 = 6x+4, or
x = 3.
Check: AM of [(3+2)+(4*3+5)]/2 = [5+17]/2= 22/2 = 11.
RHS = 3x+2 =3*3+2 = 11. Correct.
Hence x = 3.
