• The name of the chromosomal disorder of the child is Trisomy 21 or commonly known as Down Syndrome.

When is the time a family can say that a child possesses this kind of disorder? Explain.

• This condition can be detected even if the child is still on the mother's womb. All they need to do is to undergo screening test. Both invasive and non-invasive procedures can detect plausible genetic syndrome.
• Non-invasive procedures are type of diagnostic procedure where there is no incision made or no foreign objects are subjected to the patient's body. Most common non-invasive diagnostic procedure to detect genetic disorder is the Nuchal Translucency. It is similar to an ultrasound since it uses a probe to assess the thickness of the fetus's neck to check for qny aberrations.
• Invasive procedures are type of diagnostic tests where there is an "invasion" of diagnostic tools like needles on to the patient's body. Common procedure llke the Amniocentesis is used to collect amniotic fluid that contains fetal skin cells.

Where does the disorder start? Explain your answer.

• Down syndrome occurs when there is an extra copy of chromosome 21. Normally, we only have 2 chromosomes 21, but due to an error in the cell division, an extra chromosome was added. Studies have shown those mothers who conceived at age 35 or older is at risk to have a child with down syndrome.

How do you treat a child/person with this kind of disorder?

• A person who has this condition should not be treated differently and should not experience any discrimination. People who have down syndrome often feels a low self-esteem since they perceived that there is something wrong with them. Support system is important, let them feel that they are not different. They are also human being that needs to be loved rather than to be judged or neglected.
