Use Pythagorean Theorem to find the length of the diagonal of the rectangular floor. The diagonal is the hypotenuse of the triangle formed with the width (w) and depth (d) as the two other sides.

Half of the hypotenuse is half of the diagonal and it is now the side of another triangle formed with the cable and part of the height of the vertical flagpole as the two other sides.
