Exercise 1
Directions: Write TRUE if the statement is true and write FALSE if the statement is false
based from the features of academic writing.

1. Correct grammar is one of the rules in academic writing.
2. The general purpose of academic writing is to present information in order to display a
clear understanding of a particular subject
3. Vague word combinations like "a lot of people" or "someone said" are considered
good academic writing expressions.
4. Objectivity should be emphasized mainly on the presented information and/or
arguments rather than what you "think about the issue.
5. Accuracy in the use of vocabulary is less important compared to other features of
academic writing​
