Panch Mahal It is a five-storeyed stepped pavilion, built
entirely on columns. The ground floor has 84 pillars
(7 planets that were known at that time x 12 zodiac
signs); the first storey has 50 pillars and the second and
third storeys have 20 and 12 pillars respectively. The
topmost storey has four pillars supporting a chhattri. So,
in all, there are 176 pillars, all elegantly carved. No two
pillars are alike. This structure was perhaps a pleasure
pavilion for the ladies of the royal household​
