Experiment:
Take soil in two containers. Heat and cool the soil in one of the containers. Bury a leaf in each container. Water the containers every day. Dig out the leaves after a week and observe the changes.
Observations:
The leaf that was buried in unheated soil decays because it is decomposed by micro-organisms in the soil. The leaf that was buried in heated and cooled soil does not decay in the same way because heating kills the micro-organisms.
Try the above activity and finally you will understand that nutrients are returned to the
soil in nature.
