Mary's answer was correct.
If two dissimilar radicals is added (which means that the values inside the radical sign is not the same), it will be the simplified form.
So if you are going to add √18 + √2, it would still be √18 + √2, because 18 and 2 are not equal.
Similar radicals however, can be evaluated. If you take √18 + √18 as an example, it would be 2√18.
