A community or a society has different aspects that make them feel as one. One in the sense, the feeling of belonging to particular region, country or community . One such aspect is tradition. Tradition can be the combination of religion, customs, culture, rituals etc that has been followed by generations.
But in the modern times these traditions are seen to be neglected and are fading slowly. These changes are more seen in the metropolitan societies among the rich, middle class and upper middle class societies. Many parents even known to brag about the fact that their children only know English fluently as their first language rather then Hindi or their mother tongue or dialects. It is not a bad thing to know the English language but there is nothing to be proud In not knowing own regional language or dialect.
The world now changes the norm on a much faster pace due to globalisation, Internet connectivity and influences, which is one of the dominating factors in the disappearance of traditions. Therefore preserving our tradition is much needed. Preserving tradition does not mean forcing traditions on someone, but accepting external changes yet blending our traditions within. Simple gesture like namastey on a video call from the most urbanised cities or wearing traditional attires during festivals, telling the younger generations about the beauty of who we are and what our traditions are including the right morals and ethics. With Such combination no matter how modern our lifestyle may be but our heart stays traditional. It gives a warm and comfortable feeling and makes conversation and communication easy in this busy urban lifestyle.
It is necessary for us to know our roots and history as well as cultures as they are the most prominent identity of an individual, and because it keeps us humble in this materialistic world.
