Many students have not been doing well on some of the tests they take, and this has been a problem, not only for the students but for parents and teachers as well. The low-test scores may be the fault of students not studying, ineffective teaching methods by teachers leading to students not learning, or possibly parents who are not regularly monitoring their children’s education and learning each day. It is an issue that will not go away if some changes are not made. One easy solution is to do nothing and blame students for not studying enough, but what will that accomplish? Perhaps teachers can better explain the material to the students or conduct special study sessions after school hours and allow students to take advantage of these extra learning sessions. The sessions can also be scheduled prior to the start of the school day. In addition, parents may need to get more involved with the issue and better monitor their child’s study habits. This might mean setting aside a special time and place at home when the child does homework and studies each day. Better communication between the teacher and parent can also lead to solving the issue of low grades. Finally, in order to address this important issue, the students, parents, and teachers must work together and use every opportunity to possibly improve students’ test scores. 1.
