Let us recall the Elements of Percentage problem.
1. Base (B) - is the number representing the whole. It follows the preposition “of”.
2. Rate (R) - is the ratio of a number to 100. It is followed by the percent (%) sign.
Example 25%.
3. Percentage (P) - is the part of the base determined by the rate.
To find the percentage when the base and the rate are given, use the formula
P = RxB . Note that before applying the formula, rate must be converted to
decimal first before applying the formula.
