2. Given: 3rd floor - current floor where Kate is

              6 floors - Kate goes up

              2 floors - Kate goes down  

3rd floor + 6 floors = 9th floor  

9th floor - 2 floors = 7th floor

Therefore, Kate is currently on the 7th floor.
