Learning Task 2
Demonstrating the Effects of Kinetic Energy
Directions: In this activity, you will find out the effects of kinetic energy by performing the given activity.
I. Objective
Demonstrate that wind possesses kinetic energy.
II. Materials: Paper and Stick
III. Procedure
1. Prepare a paper windmill.
2. Blow at the paper windmill. Observe the direction of the blade movement.
3. Draw a paper windmill. Indicate using arrows the direction of the movement of the wind.
IV. Observations
1. What energy is present in the paper windmill before you blow air to it?
2. What caused the paper windmill to move?
3. What type of energy is present in the moving paper windmill

Answer:
As wind energy hits the blades, the rotor turns, which causes the shaft to turn as well. As the shaft turns, it is able to do work and produce either mechanical or electrical energy. The more wind that hits the blades, the more the rotor can turn and the more energy the wind turbine can produce.
