Learning Task 2.1: Writing Style
Directions: Study the following introduction and identify whether the writing style used is informative, persuasive,
or argumentative. Write your answers in a separate sheet of paper.
1. The coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic is the greatest challenge all have faced since World War Two.
Since its emergence in Asia in 2019, the virus has spread to every continent except Antarctica.
According to World Health Organization (WHO), making environment cleaner, maintaining basic good
hygiene, and following government's preventive measure are helpful ways to combat covid-19.
2. Over six million students enrolled for online learning both in private and public high school this year. As
online learning becomes more common and more and more resources are converted to digital form,
some people have suggested that public libraries should be shut down and, in their place, everyone
should be given an iPad with an e-reader subscription
3. There's an old saying: "Breakfast like a king; lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper." It tells us that
breakfast is the most important meal of the day but a lot of people, especially young people, go through
the day without having breakfast. Many people believe that it is not necessary, or they say that they
don't have time for that, and begin their day with no meal. I believe that everyone should eat breakfast
before going to their activities as it boost energy, keeps the mind and body healthy, and prevent us from
getting diseases.​
