How To Illustrate Fractions?
We can represent fractions using models. There are three steps to illustrate fractions.
Draw any figure that you want to represent your fraction.Divide it into equal parts based on the denominator.Color some of the parts based on the numerator to show the parts taken.
Going back to the given fractions above, below are the guides to illustrate each of them. I also attached an image to show their illustrations.
a.) ⅔
Draw a figure, divide it into 3 equal parts, then color 2 parts of it.
b.) 7⁄9
Divide the figure into 9 equal parts, then color 7 parts of it.
c.) 10⁄12
Divide the figure into 12 equal parts, then color 10 parts of it.
d.) 8⁄12
Divide it into 12 equal parts, then color 8 parts of it.
e.) 4⁄5
Divide it into 5 equal parts, then color 4 parts of it.
f.) 8⁄6
Draw two figures, since you cannot take 8 parts from 6.Divide each figure into 6 equal parts.Since the numerator is 8, we have to color the first figure completely which makes 6, then color 2 parts from the other figure to complete the 8 taken parts.
g.) 9⁄4
Draw three figures, since you cannot take 9 parts from 4.Divide each figure into 4 equal parts.Since the numerator is 9, we have to color the first and the second figure completely which makes 4 + 4 = 8, then color 1 part of the third figure to complete the 9 taken parts.
