1. Because this island was perfect, it had abundant seeds and other food, plenty of shelter, nesting sites and amazingly no predators or other birds to complete with.
2. The two possible way is it exhaustion, 600 miles from home and an island is in the middle of the sea.
3. A small flock of sparrow-like birds called finches were blown out to sea by a fierce storm or no predators/ other birds to complete with.
4. Because life was much harder on the mainland. There was no need for the birds to move on.
5. Generally these different species because of their different feeding and nesting habits do not interbed. In a series of dry seasons the differences in beak size increases cause further separation of the different types of finches.
