Learning from Seeds Objective: Conduct a simple experiment observing fair test. Materials: Mongo seeds, 2 identical plastic cups, soil, Procedure:
1. Put equal amount of soil in two identical plastic cups.
2. Place 10 mongo seeds in each of the container
3. Put equal amount of water in the two cups.
4. Place one cup in an area with sunlight while place the other cup in a dark room or area.
5. Monitor and record your observation for three days. (Start recording results one day after doing procedure 1-4. Take note of the observable changes on the seeds ei, size, height of the sprouts etc.)
Guide Questions:
1. What factors (variables) do we have in the experiment?
2. What are the dependent and independent variables?
3. Why should the soil, water and number of mongo seeds be equal in quantity?
4. What possible hypothesis is being tested in the experiment?
5. What other variables from the experiment can be manipulated? What other hypothesis can be tested using the same materials from the experiment?
6. What happened to the seeds after three days? What conclusion can you draw from the results?
7. Based from your conclusion, what idea can you suggest to someone who is interested in growing plants from seeds?​
