John the Baptist's teaching prepared the people in the coming of Jesus. His teaching always tell the people to avoid doing evil. His teaching always centered on being fair with everybody specially those tax collectors. During their time the tax collectors are considered as one of the greatest sinner because they are very unjust. John, baptize the people as a sign that they repent from the sins that they committed. He became a victim of injustice when Herod Antipas ask Salome for any gift that she wanted because she pleased him with her dance. Herodias the mother of Salome asked for the head of St. John in a platter. She asked for it because she cannot take the teachings of St. John the Baptist. Their is no justice and compassion in the part of Herod Antipas because he already promised that anything that Salome would ask he will give it.
