initial volume + final volume = 800 mL + 1000 mL = 1800 mL, ( that is, it has 800 mL and another 1000 mL was added
Initial volume (Vi) = 800 mL
Initial molarity ( Mi ) = is what we will have to find
Final molarity ( Mf ) which is the concentration that was decreased after adding more solvent to the solution = 10 mol/L
We then use the dilution calculation:
Mi = Vi = Mf × Vf
Mi = 800 = 10 × 1800
Mi = 800 = 18000
Mi = 18000 / 800
Mi= 22.5 mol/L
The correct answer is c) 22.5 mol/L
