As the spoon or hanger is hanging in front of you, knock it into the edge of a table to produce a “gong” sound. Explanation: The spoon, when it hits a surface, begins to vibrate. That's what causes the air to vibrate and produce “sound” in our ears.
Kinetic mechanical energy.
Solids, liquids, and gases all transmit sound as energy waves. Sound energy is the result when a force, either sound or pressure, makes an object or substance vibrate. That energy moves through the substance in waves. Those sound waves are called kinetic mechanical energy.
Kinetic energy
While energy can come in many different types, there are only two main forms of energy: kinetic energy and potential energy. These energies are found in all objects. If an object is in motion (i.e. moving), it is said to have kinetic energy.
Energy transformation is when energy changes from one form to another – like in a hydroelectric dam that transforms the kinetic energy of water into electrical energy. While energy can be transferred or transformed, the total amount of energy does not change – this is called energy conservation.
