THE STORM
Ben and Dave are super excited because tonight is the first night their parents have left them alone to fend themselves. "You're old enough now boys. It's time for you to learn responsibly", they said as their parents left for dinner. The boys couldn't wait to have the house to themselves. They had big plans to raid the pantry, run around the house, and stay up really late. They were just settling down on the couch with a bag of popcorn when they heard a loud rumbling. It sounded like a jet plane was passing over the house. They looked out the window, just as a large flash of lightning lit up the sky! Without a warning, huge drops of rain started pelting down on the windows. The boys jumped back, startled. Huge drops of rain started smashing onto the roof. The sound was deafening! The boys ran into the middle of the room, shaking with fear. Strong wind started blowing around the house, rattling the windows and shaking the walls. Ben and Dave started to feel like the whole house was going to collapse on top of them. They stood together, trembling, listening to the sound of storm all around them. Then suddenly it was quiet. Not a sound. The storm was over! So much for their exciting night home alone.
