It was formerly known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. It is located in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. It is famous for its waterbirds which include cranes and migratory waterfowls. It is a World Heritage Site. This sanctuary is one of the richest bird areas in the world.​
