The energy required to remove an electron from the outermost shell of a neutral gaseous atom is called as Ionisation Energy. Factors Effecting Ionisation energy are:- 1) Atomic Radius 2) Screening Effect 3) Effective Nuclear charge 4)Extra stability 5) Penetration effect on orbitals. Variation of I. E in periods and groups:- In periods:-On moving from left to right in a period, value of Ionisation energy increases because effective nuclear charge also increases. In groups:- On moving from top to bottom in a group, the value of I.E decreases because Atomic radius increases. THANK YOU....

Factors Effecting Ionisation energy are:-
1) Atomic Radius
2) Screening Effect
3) Effective Nuclear charge
4)Extra stability
5) Penetration effect on orbitals.

In periods:-On moving from left to right in a period, value of Ionisation energy increases because effective nuclear charge also increases.
In groups:- On moving from top to bottom in a group, the value of I.E decreases because Atomic radius increases.
