Answer: Mourad, a thirteen year old Armenian boy was an enthusiast, adventurous and a crazy streak. He was always ready to take risks and didn't mind breaking the rules of the family. Mourad stole the white horse which belonged to a wealthy but lonely Assyrian farmer, John Byro. One day, he invited Aram, the 9 year old narrator for a ride. To his utter surprise, Aram understood that Mourad had stolen the horse primarily because they were poor and their Garoghlanian family was living in the most amazing and comical poverty in the world and they had money which was enough to fill their bellies. So, it was pretty obvious, Mourad didn't buy the horse but stole it. This stealth got confirmed later when John Byro paid a visit to their uncle Khosrove and told about his horse which he bought for sixty dollars. Due to this, his surrey was being rendered as useless. Hence, Aram understood that Mourad had been riding the horse for a month. But he refused to believe that Mourad could be a thief because he had stolen the horse, not with the intention of selling it and earning money but just for enjoying horse rides. It was a harmless act. He believed that Mourad wouldn't do anything which would cause harm to the respect of their family's eleven centuries old hallmarks of trust and honesty.
