Let the no. of ppl speaking both eng. and hindi be x.
The no. of people speaking ONLY English = 250
The no. of people speaking ONLY Hindi = 70
Total no. of people = 400 = 250 + 70 + x
⇒ 400 = 320 + x
⇒ x = 400 - 320 = 80
Here ONLY means who just know 1 language and do not know the other.
Therefore , Total ppl speaking english = 250 + 80
= 330 ( as x denotes ppl
speaking both the
languages .

counted in ppl
speaking eng. )
