If we read the literal meaning of "affection" then we get to know that " affection is a feeling of liking or fondness" but I totally disagree with this statement.
It is not just merely a feeling of liking/fondness but much more. It actually cannot be explained using the best words from the deep ocean of vocabulary. It has another word too which is closely related to it's meaning. That magic word is "love".
Still, according to me: "Affection is the feeling which attracts an individual to another indvidual and it can be of any type. It can be an affection of a child for his mother, affection of a mother for her child, affection of a friend for another friend, etc."
We can say that there is an advanced form of "affection" i.e. "love".
