1) Size of the family has significant bearing on rural poverty. The larger the size of family, the lower is the per capita income, and the lower is the standard of living. The persistence of the joint family system has contributed to the health and earning capacity of the ruralites.
2)Landlessness: Land and other forms of assets constitute sources of income for the ruralites. But, unfortunately, there has been unequal distribution of land and other assets in our economy. The size-wise distribution of operational holdings indicates a very high degree of concentration in the hands of a few farmers leading to poverty of many in the rural sector.
1.during the British period ,land got unequally distributed among people .
2.those who didn't get proper land could not perform any farming on it and gradually became poor
3.since then, the generations of those families have grown poorer

Unemployment has caused people to be poor
1.due to unemployment people have been unable to support their families and get basic necessities
2.this has led to lowered standard of life and gradually the people become poor

1.India has experienced families with many members
2.Due to a large family a fixed amount of earning has to be divided among more people
3.for example. if a family of 4 earns Rs.100 then each will benefit of Rs.25
but if the family has 10 members...each will get Rs 10 only ...
Illiteracy
1.Due to illeteracy people are not taken into jobs as they are not qualified enough
2.This makes them unemployed and without money they reach the poor state
Poor Health /Malnutrition
1.Due to bad health , a person is not able to perform the work to his /her fullest capabilities
2.for example ...a farmer who is not healthy will not work enough in the field .....due to this his production would be less and he will earn less
Helplessness .
this includes being an already very poor person or a widow or very old people ....
people who are like this can't work and that is why they get poor
