Democracy has been accepted as the best form of Governance. Yet Indian democracy faces very serious challenges. The three challenges are:
1) Social and economic inequalities among the people: The most important problem in a democracy is the growing social and economic disparities. The rich are becoming richer and the poor are becoming poorer day by day
2) Casteism and communist: Exploitation of minorities in different castes and religions for narrow political gains had destroyed the concept of democracy. The politicians in the country use caste and religion as prime medium for gaining votes.
3) Corruption and inefficiency: The corruption and red-tapism have rampant the growth of India both socially and economically. This has resulted in a delay in public justice weakening the fabric of democracy.
The challenge can be overcome by adopting the following methods:
1) Spreading awareness and education among the citizens about their right to vote and other political rights.
2) Efforts should be made to reduce the social and economic disparities among citizens.
3) Accountability of the System towards the people must be made stronger because transparency and accountability are institution for which democracy thrives.
