with examples of biodegradable, non biodegradable and hazardous waste you can
find from your home or school,
Three siblings Marco, Bruno and Kian are told by their mother to clean and
declutter the storage room of their house. It's been five months since it's been
cleaned up. Since it's pandemic and a lot of people are advised to stay home
specifically children of their age, their mother thought it is a good idea for the
brothers to practice cleanliness at home for a healthy and safe environment. The
boys begin by wearing mask and gloves with their cleaning materials going to the
storage room.
Once they started cleaning, Kian found some empty bottles, plastic
containers, and cans. "Oh, we call these non-biodegradable. I remember our
teacher who taught us that we can reuse or recycle these kind of waste materials,"
Marco told him. Then Bruno asked, "How about these?" He showed them the
dried leaves, paper cartons and old newspapers. Kian answered him, "I know
those are called Biodegradable. They can decompose on their own in a short
period of time, so they aren't added to the pollution." Then Marco found some old
batteries and acidic chemicals. He told them, "I guess these are hazardous wastes
which are harmful to our health. This should also be disposed properly. Come on,
think we should ask Mom how to properly take care of all these waste materials we
collected."
