46 more health workers in PH contract COVID-19; total cases rise to 2,787 by Kristine Sabillo, ABS-CBN News Posted at Jun 10 2020 09:39 PM MANILA The number of health workers in the Philippines infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, went up by 46 to 2,787, the country's health department said Wednesday, The June 9 tally includes 1,624 who have recovered, and 32 who succumbed to the disease. of the 1,131 active cases, 986 have mild symptoms while only 1 is showing severe symptoms. A total of 144 are considered asymptomatic, Included in the cumulative total are 1,019 nurses, 743 doctors, 183 nursing assistants, 112 medical technologists and radiologic technologists. There are also 358 non-medical staff from health facilities. The percentage of health workers among the country's total COVID-19 cases has gone down to around 12 percent, from as high as around 17 percent in previous weeks. The Department of Health has released P1 million each to families of the 30 health workers, out of the 32, who died from COVID-19, as well as P100,000 each to 19 who were severely ill of the disease, as mandated by the Bayanihan to Heal as One law.
