Hey, this seems big but its simple if you understand
As you may know, the formula to determine parallel resistance is 1/R = 1/R(1) + 1/R(2) +... + 1/R(n)
Now, in (a) R1 is given as 1 ohm and R2 is given as 10^6 ohms R2 = 1000000
1/R= 1/1 ohm + 1/ 1000000 ohms LCM on the right side gives 1000001/ 1000000 on simplifying it (done in calculator for faster results ) gives 1.00001.. i. e) 1
and (b) R1 is 1 R2 is 1000 R3 is 1000000
Same equation 1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 = 1001001/1000000= gives 0.9.... i. e) 1
If you still didn't understand, tell me, I'll simplify it :)

As you may know, the formula to determine parallel resistance is 1/R = 1/R(1) + 1/R(2) +... + 1/R(n)
Now, in (a)
R1 is given as 1 ohm and R2 is given as 10^6 ohms
R2 = 1000000
1/R= 1/1 ohm + 1/ 1000000 ohms
LCM on the right side gives
1000001/ 1000000 on simplifying it (done in calculator for faster results ) gives 1.00001.. i. e) 1
and (b)
R1 is 1
R2 is 1000
R3 is 1000000
Same equation
1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3
= 1001001/1000000= gives 0.9.... i. e) 1
