Byzantine

Romanesque

Gothic

CHARACTERISTICS:

Massive quality, thick walls, round arches, sturdy piers, groin vaults, large towers, and symmetrical plans.

FUNCTIONS:

It's primarily to decorate the exteriors of a cathedral and other religious buildings.
