Epiphytes (for example, orchids) are plants that grow on other plants. Unlike parasites, they do not draw nutrition from their host. They just perch on their host for support and other advantages like getting more sunlight or protection from browsers. What is peculiar about them is that their roots do not grow into the soil. They hang in the air and absorb moisture from their surroundings. Where would you expect such plants to grow-in an arid climate or a humid climate?​
