President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has signed the Executive Order No 164 last February 18 which approves the inclusion of nuclear energy as one of the sources of energy in the country. He further recognized that nuclear power plant can be a reliable, cost-competitive, and environment-friendly source of energy based on the experience of highly-developed countries. This would give a big possibility of rehabilitating andreopening of Bataan Nuclear Power Plant which was mothballed because of corruption and safety issue in the 1980s.
