I don't. I mean, I dont think its necessary at all to think about what others think about you regardless of their closeness to you. For me, what matters the most is what you really are, what you think of yourself, how you take care of yourself and you truly love yourself because let us be honest here. At the end of the day, you only have yourself to lean on, to depend on and it feels so much better when you dont need anybody before accomplishing something.
What type of things should people be looking to invest in a post-COVID-19 world?
One of the many things I did as soon as covid hit, was to study and research back hundreds of years to see how economies did AFTE
You should both care and not care what other people think.
If you only care what other people think you will end up living your life for other people: you will go to the school your parents want you to go, you will do things you don't want because other people want you to do, you will not live your own life because you will live a life centered around other people's expectations.
If you never care what other people think you will end up doing poorly on a social levels: If you don't care what your boss thinks you will likely be fired, if you don't care what other people think you may treat then with disrespect.
So you should both care and not care what other people think. I say 60% not care and 40% care because the ball has to be in your field.
When we feel insecure and bad about ourselves we seek external validation to feel better about ourselves, but external validation never works. It only creates more need for external validation and so on.
This kind of behaviour might have worked when we lived in jungle and had to rely on the group to survive, but nowdays we no longer live in jungle.
If you want to feel good about yourself you need internal validation: self-love, self-acceptance, self-compassion. We all have different traits including flaws.
What is the difference between self-compassion and self-esteem? It's the difference between confidence and niceness, charisma and honesty.
The idea that you don't need to be a macho man alpha male, the idea that you don't need to be the life of the party, but that you are okay just the way you are, just being nice is enough, just being honest is enough.
The idea that you don't have to live up to some unreasonable expectations you set for yourself to be good.
So be authentic but have basic decency, whoever likes you great, whoever doesn't like you also great.
Start off by being authentic and nice, meaning without inhibitions but with basic decency, if the other person is nice to you keep being nice, if the other person stops being nice to you stop being nice.
