It depends on the purpose and amount of homework assigned. If it is necessary for students to reinforce their learning and the workload is reasonable, then it may be acceptable to have homework on the weekend. However, if it is excessive and interferes with students' personal time and well-being, then it is not advisable.
I agree to allow teachers to assign homework to students on weekends, but only if doing so is optional. Other people, like me, simply prefer to do schoolwork on weekends since I find it better than doing other stuff and it improves my understanding of the material. Some individuals, however, prefer to spend their weekends engaging in different activities, such as spending time with family, playing games, being outdoors, etc.
The students who did the assignment can present it to the class as a review of the previous lesson. It's a win-win situation right?
