Although Venus is the closest planet to Earth, if we use proper math and an accurate distance from mercury to earth, Mercury is the closest planet in Earth but not just to Earth but to all planets in the solar system. Why? Essentially because Mercury is closest to the Sun, when taking an average over time, Mercury is the closest planet to the Earth, and—in that measure—it is the closest planet to each of the other planets in the Solar System.
