Direction:
1. 1.Prepare a ball (such as Ping-Pong ball, baseball etc.) and a soft string ( i.e. yarn).
2. Tie and connect the ball to the yarn, and move it in a circular motion over your head.
3. Observe the motion of the ball.
4. This time, along its path, while moving around, cut the yarn that connected to the ball, then observe.
5. Does it looks like the diagram located on right side?
6. Answer the following questions.
a. What is the purpose of the yarn or string connected to the ball as you move it around?
b. In your observation, why do you think the ball moved in that direction?
c. What happens to the ball when you release or cut the yarn?
d. Using the law of inertia, explain why the ball behaves that way.
e. What is needed for the ball to maintains its motion?
