I see you are fond of shoving your emotions down your throat and swallowing your temper.
Although I tend to have the same habit, I still think keeping them all inside is Mentally unhealthy. One day if the pile grows large enough, the volcano will have to erupt eventually. If you get what I mean. Although if you do want to stop awkward situations from happening such as crying in public, word of advice, do not overthink the situation, take deep breaths and always try to look on the best side.
Do not pressure yourself, you see you have already survived the worst so far. Do not take opinions too personally. I know this all cliche advice but I'm not the one who would tell you to "get over it". You can't Avoid some problems, most of the time you'll need to Face them.
Hiding sadness is yet another habit I tend to keep. I'm still working on being open. I understand that hiding your sadness may be because you don't want to spread any negative energy of feelings around the people surrounding you.
Yet... I know you wouldn't want to immediately share everything. But take it slow, someone you love is concerned about you, If they are open minded, talk to them, Then in the end if you are brave enough you would never have any sadness to hide. :)
