Activity 2: What happens to the solid materials when pressed?
Directions/Instructions:
Perform the given activity properly and follow the
procedures. Take extra precautions when handling the materials.
Materials:
1pc of banana, pandesal, clean plastic sheet, small wood,
empty glass/bottle, % kilo dough (mixture of flour and
water) (do this ahead of time)
Procedure:
1. Using the piece of wood or empty glass/bottle, press each
of the given materials. Observe what happens to each of the
materials
2. Record your observations using the table below.

When solid materials are pressed, they undergo physical change. No new substance is formed but, it changes its form, texture size or shape... The oil or juice that is being extracted is a chemical change, thus oil and juice is another substance which has a new chemical composition.
