1. As a whole, the poem speaks of the women's emotional struggle during those times of American colonization. The prose- like presentation of the poem added to the heightening of the author’s examination of the wound inflicting the nation then and the human personality as a whole. The preference of the author of the English translation of ‘alas tres o ikatlo ng umaga’ which is three o'clock in the morning may suggest that America (which is the key proponent of the English language) played part in this poem. May be not the country as a whole but the people who were based there during the time of the author
