B. Using the Adjective-Forming Suffix -ous
There is one word that aptly describes the male characters in the selection. They are courageous,
meaning they are brave. Do you agree?
The word courageous ends with the suffix -ous. This suffix shows that the word is an adjective
which means "having," "full of" or "characterized by. "Hence, "courageous" means "characterized
by courage" or "full of courage."
