"Instructions. Earthquakes do not happen instantly. Arrange the statements inside the
box as to how earthquakes occur. Write the letters of the correct answers on the space
provided for on the next page. Number 6 corresponds to the first step and number 10 is
the last step as to how earthquakes occur.

A. They don't just slide smoothly; the rocks catch on each other. The rocks are still
pushing against each other, but are not moving.

B. During the earthquake and afterward, the plates or blocks of rock start moving,
and they continue to move until they get stuck again.

C. The sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground
shake

D. When the rocks break, the earthquake occurs.
