Connie Carillo Diversified Farm: Bingawan’s Eye Opener on Farming as a Successful Enterprise.
BINGAWAN, Iloilo – “I believe that farming can alleviate poverty. I believe we can convert the right skills into money. And that with the love for soil and the right attitude, we can gain extra income, educate the community, provide jobs, and also uplift the lives of those around you.” said Connie Carillo, a 52-year old agripreneur from the fifth class municipality of Bingawan, Iloilo and now a proud owner of an ATI-accredited learning site for Integrated Diversified Organic Farming System (IDOFS) and Aquaculture.
Located at Brgy. Cairohan, Bingawan’s poorest baranggay, Connie Carillo Diversified Farm Learning Site serves as an eye opener to the community on how Connie’s family had survived poverty and established a comfortable life by pursuing agriculture as a business and as a complement to their once small vocational and technical school.
